Crisis communication (with F. Frandsen).
The project comprises five dimensions: 1) Risk society (the sociological dimension), 2) definition and typology of crises (the defining dimension), 3) crisis management (the managerial dimension), 4) crisis communication (the communicative dimension) and 5) intercultural differences (the cultural dimension). As for the models for analysis of the language in crisis communication, we are working on an expansion and an improvement of Benoit's theory of crisis communication as image reconstruction strategies and Coomb's theory of crisis communication as relationship management. The preliminary results of the research project were published in 2007 as a book entitled ”Krisekommunikation: Når virksomhedens image og omdømme er truet” (Crisis communication: when a company's image and reputation is threatened).
Two subprojects are associated with the above-mentioned project: 1) an examination of the crisis management of Danish authorities and companies in 2003 (co-financed by the Danish Ministry of the Interior Emergency Management Agency). and 2) an examination of the historical development of media coverage of Danish corporate crises from 1960 to 2000. The results of the former of the two subprojects was published in a report in 2004.
A study of the green communication of European hotels (with F. Frandsen).
The aim of the project is to study how the green "wave" in western societies has resulted in new forms of communication, incl. new genres and new rhetoric. So far, the project has focused on analyses of the green communication of European hotels based on a large text corpus. Its focus is on image, politeness strategies, argumentation and cultural differences. A reception analysis of the green communication of three hotels in Copenhagen, DK, has also been carried out together with an analysis of the multi-modal aspects of this particular form of corporate communication. The results are published in the form of articles, and a book publication is also under consideration (see the link Publications).
Communicating Culture Through Text and Image - The Case of Danish and French Company Brochures (PhD thesis).
Further development of research project on culture and communication in Danish and French presentation brochures, incl. studies of interaction between text and imagery, of positioning strategies and of value management (the Uniqueness paradox) and use of special rhetoric in internal and external corporate communication. The results will be published in articles.
